The United States flag is highly symbolic and stirs many emotions from American citizens and veterans. As American as baseball & apple pie, fishing is deep rooted in the U.S. culture.

For Memorial Day 2005, Custom Lures Unlimited decided to use its skill to create a unique item that reflects U.S. patriotism, honors veterans & their service, and to relate it to one of our great American past-times, fishing. We hope you enjoy what we designed and crafted, "Old Glory".

May 2007:

 Since the original Old Glory was crafted, I have seen numerous copies of the original version. CLU alone has crafted the Old Glory lures in the upper hundreds since 2005.

The original lure pictured above went on one lone fishing trip to Harris Lake in North Carolina, ironically the July 4th, 2005 Holiday. Also, ironically the same body of water as the 1st Warriors On The Water tournament held to honor America's current servicemen. The only fish the original lure ever caught was a fat 4.5 lb. largemouth. I immediately retired the lure after that catch. 

In September 2005, the original OG graced the cover of The News & Observer, Carolina Outdoors Section. It was even held at the 2006 Bassmaster American tournament by Legendary BASSMASTER Founder Ray Scott. The Original Old Glory lure now resides in a special place on CLU's "trophy wall" along side unique and signed lures, angling jerseys, and autographs from many FLW and BASS pros.

 The Old Glory lure paint scheme remains near the top of the most requested CLU patterns. Even the twin sons of BASS Legend Kevin Van Dam own a pair of twin Old Glory lures. By far the OG pattern is the most requested item for presents and donations. At times it feels like the requests for the OG lure are never ending, however be assured that each Old Glory lure that I paint is still as special and unique as the original.
