2006 BASS AOY Mike Iaconelli Bagley restoration & repaint. Obvious severe damage to this battle tested lure. The lip is cracked off & was sent separate from the lure's body. The back and sides of the lure has deep punctures & cracks. The balsa is openly exposed to water. The paint and clearcoat has faded. |
 | A belly shot shows the lead is exposed and the paint lifting away from the area. The eyelet is bent, a result of impacts from repeated use around structures. Clay and rust stains dominate the remaining clearcoat. |
 | After speaking to Mike it became obvious that this lure is important to him and has been instrumental in his tournament success. One look at the permanent marker at the damaged back cavity shows this clearly. Note the section of balsa missing above the line tie & the crack that runs from the nose to the corner of the lip slot, another sign that this lure has been fished aggressively. Teeth marks also exist in the lower side sections of the lure. |
 | Here's a good overall shot of the lure in it's final repaired state. Note that the original lip has been cleaned & re-installed to insure the same diving depth & action. The final paint is a fairly traditional shad pattern. The lure also has CLU's durable high gloss finish. |
Special thanks to Mike for use of his lures in this pictorial. Best of luck with all of the lures at the 2006 Classic, in 2007 and for years to come.
